I planned an intimate brand awareness party to celebrate going solar after refreshing the back porch
Sup, Sun. A Solar Porch Party
SUNDAY, JULY 31, 2022 3PM EST
Event Overview
This private backyard event functioned as a way to get my closest network of family and friends more comfortable with solar energy. This was a unique experience as it also invited guests to see the newly decorated back porch space with ample seating, new coloring for the ceiling and floor, as well as try out some of my favorite foods from a local restaurant that I regularly go to every weekend for brunch.
Target Audience
Family and friends (Age: 30+, employed full-time, and avid gamers) who own or are looking to own their own home. Most guests that did arrive are renters so even though they don’t own their own homes, they do plan to in the next 5 years.
Messaging
All of the guests that were invited and attended are Facebook savvy. The event had a personable and pun-based tone. All event communication was streamlined via Facebook with a few one-off conversations to discuss options on what they should bring to the table as well as any health updates concerning their COVID-19 status.
Facebook Event Description included a sundry of sun and Dungeons & Dragons puns your dad would love.

Photo Highlights

Event Perks You’d Love
- Solar Powered WiFi with Charging Stations
- Local Handcrafted Sunny Sangria
- A Chance to Get 2 Tickets to the Carnegie Science Center
- Take home gift feat. Chakra Cleansing Incense and Golden Caramels
Missed Opportunity
- The sun eventually came out so a selfie station would’ve been neat
- COVID-19 impacted 2 families that would have came otherwise
- A secondary raffle would’ve been cool perhaps a gift card
Last Words
Again, this wasn’t a sales-driven event. The main objective was to get people chatting about solar and it helped inviting others who already benefit from solar energy to share their own thoughts and experiences. Since solar and electric vehicles are a tad out of reach for people, this event was an intimate way to help others let their guard down and enjoy pondering the magic and mystery of our solar system. I totally see myself planning more events like this in the future.
